Quarter knocking is a very useful skill that can win you games, but like Sun said, it's not always necessary. Good warriors will hit their Qknocks almost every time, but most of the warriors in HA aren't good. In most situations, if you're not completely confident about your ability to Qknock, it's a lot better to err on the side of knocking late rather than early. If you can time that 1/4 second window consistently there's no reason not to Qknock, but for most people, most of the time, it's better to let somebody get a RoF or whatever off rather than waste your KD by missing.

Personally I find it pretty easy, but then I used to be an expert in similar RPG button timing things in the past. Don't make it every time, still learning, been doing it for a few weeks.
It's good to practice I think, especially in places where monks will be spam clicking return as soon as you KD (not HA, also return is pretty annoying), but I guess the extra attack you get by not Q knocking is worth as much as interrupting 1 spell in an 8v8 pressure situation.
Duel with guy from [FINE] was fun.
People I watch in HA play their build a bit differently from me.

oh I kd'd somebody other than my target? thats cute and all but it doesn't really matter in the long run, i would rather have magehunter smash so that I can maximize my ability to choose targets well.

I ripped the f*ck out of a magehunter's war today with dev, it was actually a bit pathetic and I felt bad despite the fact that he was chasing me for a free kill.
Protip: if someone's chasing you with bull's, stop briefly. Then KILL THEM.
If dev gets nerfed I'm switching to sword.

oh I don't have to switch targets when my target gets guardian'd? thats cute and all but it doesn't really matter in the long run, i would rather have earth shaker so I can maximize my ability to coordinate with my fire ele and kill stuff.
MHS maximizes your ability to go after prot monks, which can be very valuable, but when you're playing in a team with one to three fire eles, the ability to KD more than one person consistently is invaluable, especially on cap points and KotH.
Don't get me wrong, MHS is a good skill for HA, but in most cases ES is going to be more valuable.

^Cripslash, and shock sword sucks since you won't have an interrupt.
On to quaterknock, the downside of doing that is you lose the extra dmg from a hit. A lot of people just quaterknock without any purpose because it seems to be the cool thing to do.

Don't like cripslash. Actually I was thinking about trying it for HA, but only used it for 1 round and people kept removing bleeding with LS before I could hit with gash (we lost badly though, build would probably look much better in a winning round). An ele saw my meta cripslash build, called me a noob and left instantly but then she was french and therefore bad.
[primal rage][rush][bull's strike][savage slash][sever artery][gash][sun and moon slash][shock]
but that's for AB. works great there.

For example, don't ever bother Qknocking targets that have no quick casts (1/4) or you'll lose out on one hit worth of damage.
